Mayim's Monday Motivation
Ground Control to Major Jonathan
Guess what? It’s Monday again!
I’m feeling a bit reflective on this particular Monday. I’m thinking about what’s possible... I know that sounds a little bit vague so I’ll get more specific.
Before we get into that, though... it is ME writing these. A bunch of you asked on our last Substack LIVE who writes these and “it can’t be AI” - you’re right! It’s not AI. It’s me sitting at my laptop, old school. So...thank you for asking and thank you for reading and enjoying my Monday musings! Ok, back to the topic at hand!
When Jonathan and I started our podcast, Substack wasn’t even a thing. I mean, maybe it was a thing somewhere in the universe, but it was definitely not on my radar or the radar of anyone who worked on developing our podcast. And so we started making episodes and watching how our topics and our guests and our audience evolved and week in and week out, we kept making episodes. I kind of thought that would be “it” for our podcast. And that’s an awesome thing, don’t get me wrong. I assumed we would make lots of episodes and keep making lots of episodes with a similar format. Done!
What’s interesting is that Jonathan rarely thinks that once something is created, it will stay the same. You see, Jonathan is blessed with a very expensive open-mindedness, which for the most part I do not possess! Jonathan has the ability to imagine things that don’t yet exist. I consider this one of his superpowers! He imagined that there was a community where we would get to talk with people who liked the content that we were producing. He pictured people being able to communicate with each other and interface in ways that were meaningful and helpful to them. I really had no idea what he was talking about fast-forward a number of years and here we are. Well, Jonathan didn’t necessarily imagine all of the particulars of Substack. We have found a space where we get to communicate and interact with people who are curious and open-minded. It’s a lovely place for us to spend time both literally and figuratively.
The reason I’m thinking about the evolution of this podcast as something I could not imagine, but Jonathan could, is that this week‘s guest spends almost all of her time helping people understand what is beyond the limits of their understanding. Apparently Jonathan is not the only one! Our guest is Dr. Iya Whiteley, a cognitive engineer who has spent decades exploring human performance at the edge of capability, most specifically designing training for astronauts and advising space agencies all over the world. Dr. Whiteley gets to work with people who are literally living at the edges of our understanding of the universe and human capability - and in many ways reality itself.
I know so many of you out there have intuitive abilities and I can’t wait to hear how you experience possibilities that people like me can’t easily access! We’re so glad to have you all here on this journey with us and we hope you enjoy this week’s episode.
And even though it hasn’t happened yet, I know I’ll see you next week :-) that much I can imagine!

The hardest truth is that your most enduring relationship is with yourself. If you betray yourself in the name of love, love will ultimately turn away from you.
I look forward everyday to your podcasts, youtube, substack, facebook postings. I can’t get enough. I have gone back to almost a year, to get anything I missed. Thank you for being so entertaining and enlightening. Both of you are a favourite. ❤️
